The Canadian government plans to open to fully vaccinated Americans on Monday, August 9th, 2021. The long wait among the hunting community may finally be coming to an end, with some restrictions of course.
Those of you who plan to hunt in Canada must show proof of being fully vaccinated by a Canadian government-approved vaccine. Fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to quarantine for 14 days after arrival into Canada, and will not be required to take a post-arrival COVID-19 test unless randomly selected to do so. Although all travelers must provide a negative PCR or molecular test within 72 hours of arriving.

What tests are approved?
Currently approved vaccines according to the Canadian government include Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, and also Moderna. These are the only approved vaccines according to the Canadian government, and all other vaccines will not be accepted.
What does this all mean?
The number one concern for the Canadian government is the health and safety of its citizens as it should be. As the number of vaccinations rises in Canada and the cases of COVID-19 decrease we should be able to see more leniency coming from the Canadian government, and fewer travel restrictions. Although the current restrictions might not be ideal for some hunters, it is a step in the right direction, and will hopefully save some hunting plans for 2021.
